Kolkata is the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal. After Mumbai it is the second largest city of India. It is on the eastern coast of Hooghly river. it includes the suburbs ,The city is widely known as India’s “cultural capital”, and it is also nicknamed “Joy City”. In 2011, the city’s population was 4.5 million, while the city and its suburbs had a population of 14.1 million, making it India’s third most populous metropolitan area.

Kolkata has long been known for its literary, revolutionary and artistic heritage. With the former capital of India, this place became the birthplace of modern India’s literary and artistic thinking. Kolkata has always been a special place for art and literature. For these reasons, Kolkata is sometimes called the cultural capital of India, which will not be exaggerated . Durga puja in kolkata,
Durga Puja is one of Kolkata’s most important and dazzling celebrations. This festival usually comes in the month of October, but it may also comes in September. Other notable festivals include Jagadithi Pooja, Pola Baisakh, Saraswati Pooja, Rath Yatra, Posh Porbo, Diwali, Holi, Krisma, eid etc. Cultural festivals include Kolkata Book Fair, Kolkata Film Festival, Dover Lane Music Festival and National Theater Festival.
